Artist Spotlight: Hagen Atkins

We are excited to welcome Hagen Atkins as our newest artist at Midtown. Her art will be gracing our shop through the end of March! Hagen has what many would consider ‘the classic Alaskan story’ as she spent eight summers as a commercial fisherwomen on the Kenai, before moving to Alaska full-time four years ago.

Her move to Tok, with her fiancé, allowed her the opportunity to focus on her passion for art and to fall deeper in love with Alaska. This collection was inspired by “the joy of exploring and falling in love with all things Alaska.” The majority of this collection is acrylic on canvas, but there are a few pieces that incorporate mixed media. She hopes to continue to create with watercolor and ink, as well as pastels.

Among her favorite spots in Alaska is the confluence of the Yetna and Susitna Rivers, as she spent two summers there. “But in the winter it's hard to beat the beauty of Hatcher Pass,” Hagen added. Not only does Hagen love the beauty of Alaska, but also the hospitality of the art community. “I love connecting with other artists and have been fortunate to get great advice and make close friends over the last few years,” she said.

A few of her favorite Wild Scoops flavors are Blueberry Biscotti, Sunshine Club, and Rhubarb Crumble.
