Artist Spotlight: Scott Spooner

We have loved featuring local artists in our Midtown shop and we are excited to have our inaugural artist back for July and August, Scott Spooner.

He is currently showing pieces from his Elevation collection, which is a group of landscapes on canvas painted with acrylic. This collection was started in 2017 and is a continuation from the collection he had up last summer in the shop.

Scott has lived in Anchorage for the past five years and is happy to call Alaska home. He spent most of his childhood in Nairobi, Kenya, experiencing amazing landscapes and wildlife.

He has been pursuing art professionally for five years and has had collections at various local spots including Middleway Cafe, Akela Space, and Kaladi Brothers Coffee. Scott seeks to “bring an experience of both abstract and realism to the table, to see things as they have never been seen before so that someone can rediscover a moment through my painting.”

Some places in Alaska that have inspired Scott’s collection are Lake Clark, The Chugach, The Alaska Range, and Yakutat.

His favorite Wild Scoops flavor is Tart Rhubarb.

If you haven’t already stopped by our Midtown shop to take in some of Scott’s work, you still have until the end of the month. You don’t want to miss out on taking in the Alaskan experience through his work -- it is sure to bring you to a place of wonder and appreciation for this state we are blessed to live in.

If you are interested in purchasing any of Scott’s work, you can contact him at (616) 240-9457 or scott.daniel.spooner@gmail.com.
